Biography

Amanda I. Hernandez is a criminal defense attorney and founder of Amanda Hernandez Law PLLC, based in San Antonio, Texas. Since becoming licensed in 2016, Amanda has dedicated her practice exclusively to criminal defense, representing individuals facing state and federal criminal charges throughout Texas. She has extensive jury trial experience in federal, felony, and misdemeanor cases and is known for her strategic advocacy, meticulous preparation, and unwavering commitment to protecting her clients’ rights.

Amanda represents clients in a wide range of criminal matters, including federal crimes, drug offenses, firearms offenses, sex crimes, family violence allegations, DWI and intoxication-related offenses, violent crimes, and other serious felony charges. She regularly appears in both state and federal courts and is admitted to practice before all Texas state courts, as well as the United States District Courts for the Western, Southern, and Eastern Districts of Texas.

Amanda began her legal career with the Flanary Law Firm, PLLC, where she developed significant courtroom and trial experience. She continues to serve as Of Counsel with the firm while leading her own practice, Amanda Hernandez Law PLLC, which she founded in 2024. Throughout her career, she has successfully represented clients facing some of the most serious criminal allegations and has earned a reputation as a respected and effective advocate.

Committed to continuously improving her trial skills, Amanda completed the renowned Trial Lawyers College in 2025, an intensive advanced trial advocacy program focused on courtroom communication, storytelling, and client-centered representation. This training further strengthened her ability to connect with juries, effectively present her clients’ stories, and advocate persuasively in high-stakes cases.

Amanda has been recognized by her peers and the legal community for both her advocacy and leadership. In 2019, she was honored as the San Antonio Criminal Defense Lawyers Association’s Young Lawyer of the Year. She has also been selected as a Texas Super Lawyers Rising Star in Criminal Defense each year from 2024 through 2026, an honor awarded to a limited percentage of attorneys who demonstrate professional excellence and peer recognition.

Beyond her courtroom practice, Amanda is deeply involved in organizations dedicated to criminal defense, legal education, and protecting constitutional rights. She served as President of the San Antonio Criminal Defense Lawyers Association (SACDLA) during the 2025–2026 term and remains actively involved in advancing the interests of criminal defense attorneys and their clients. She also serves on the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association’s Criminal Defense Lawyers Project (CDLP) Committee and regularly speaks at continuing legal education programs across Texas.

Amanda is passionate about mentoring lawyers and contributing to the criminal defense profession through legal writing and education. She currently serves as Editor of Voice for the Defense, the official publication of the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, where she works with attorneys throughout the state to provide practical guidance, legal analysis, and advocacy-focused content for the defense bar.

At the heart of Amanda’s practice is a simple belief: every person deserves a strong defense, compassionate representation, and an attorney who will stand beside them during one of the most difficult times in their life. Whether handling a federal investigation, a serious felony accusation, or a misdemeanor offense, Amanda approaches every case with diligence, integrity, and a commitment to achieving the best possible outcome for her clients.
